Opportunity for an experienced Director of Engineering to join our team.
Diamond Mowers is seeking a qualified Director of Engineering to enhance our senior leadership team and provide strategic vision and leadership to our engineering organization. As our Director of Engineering, you will lead New Product Introduction, product improvements and cost reduction initiatives. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading the efforts to expand and improve our product offerings. You will also be responsible to champion and reinforce Diamond's culture and to be a change agent inside of the organization. Responsibilities: Effectively lead and manage the engineering team and establish a clear vision for the department and a plan to achieve that vision. This vision should support the factory's objective of "Build a high-quality product, on time, at or below planned cost, with exceptional customer service after the sale." Continuously top grade the team by recruiting, training and coaching. Maximize the potential of employees through a servant leadership style. Ensure that the work product from engineering is accurate and on time and establish a quality control system that builds quality into the work product. Establish clear performance expectations, KPI's and hold team accountable for results. Accelerate the development and implementation of new products while utilizing the New Product Introduction process. Maintain and manage the engineering budget for the organization. Drive product improvements that will enhance customer satisfaction, reduce product costs, improve design for manufacturability and reduce warranty costs. Work with the Product Manager to develop the overall product strategy. Develop the technology roadmap to support short and long-term goals with specific technology solutions. Provide manufacturing with the necessary support to address day to day production needs and Lean initiatives. Manage and streamline the engineering change process. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field A strong background in hydraulic and structural systems design and Finite Element Analysis MRP experience 10+ years managing an engineering team Excellent computer skills in CAD tools (Autodesk is preferred) and proficiency with MS Office products Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate to all levels of the company Proficient in data collection, analysis, and presentations How to exhibit Diamond values in this role: Customer Focused - meeting and exceeding internal and external customer requirements and expectations.
