A Building and Grounds Worker position is available at the
Cloquet Forestry Center. 175 University Road, Cloquet, MN 55720.

Work week is primarily Monday
through Friday with flexing to include Saturday and/or Sunday
some weeks to accommodate groups that use the facilities on
weekends. These weeks will vary with advance notice given for
weekend hours. The position reports to the Director of
Operations, Andrew David.

Regular, On-going Tasks:
Perform building and grounds work at the University of
Minnesota, Cloquet Forestry Center.
Restrooms and Equipment (50%)
1. Daily cleaning of restrooms. Clean bathrooms: toilets, stone

surfaces, walls, windows, mirrors, and fixtures. Polish chrome
finishes. Collect waste paper. Replenishes supplies.
2. Set up equipment, furniture & lodging needs required for
University functions & groups using the facilities. Move
furniture, office equipment, tables, benches, chairs, supplies,
refuse, garbage and various kinds of equipment.
Carpets and vinyl floors (25%)
1. Daily cleaning of carpet and vinyl floors. Scrub floors using
industrial cleaning chemicals. Dry floors with a heavy-duty
industrial wet or dry pick-up vacuum. Mop floors with heavy wet
mops. Sweep floors with floor brush or treated dust mop.
Windows & light fixtures (15% )
1. Daily window, wall and light fixture cleaning
Snow removal and lawn care (10%)
1. Sweep and shovel snow and debris from steps and sidewalks.
Mow and water lawns. Keep walkways and roadways clear of
snow and debris. Clean leaves and debris from lawn and
shrubbery. Cut, rake, weed, seed, trim and prune lawns, vines, and
shrubbery.
2. Load and unloads trucks.
Observe deficiencies in building hardware, doors, windows, and
other facilities. Make verbal or written reports on unusual
conditions to supervisor.
SUPERVISION:
This position will work closely with other B/G staff under the
immediate direction of a supervisor

Required Qualifications:
1. Ability to read and write competently in English and lift 50
pounds to shoulder height
2. This person will have interaction with groups using center
3. Must be responsible and work independently
4. Previous experience in operating maintenance equipment
required
5. Background check is required
