Minimum Hiring Salary/Classification: $45,000 plus/year, Full-time, Benefited, Non-Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage, basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans. 
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Science is seeking qualified applicants for a clinic nurse position at their Center for Family Medicine in Minot, ND. This position will plan, direct, coordinate, and provide services to patients in a manner that ensures quality medical care. The position also serves faculty, medical residents, and staff.


Duties and Responsibilities Include:
 

  • Direct patient to exam room in a polite and timely manner.
  • Take a brief history, vital signs, and record all medications and allergies.
  • Contribute to nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare patient appropriately for visit.
  • Ensure that all forms are completed correctly for physicals, procedures, etc.
  • Clarify and implement physician orders.
  • Perform care, treatments, and procedures according to Center for Family Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Answer telephone politely and promptly. Record accurate information and forward to provider.
  • Communicate and document nursing interventions and patient responses to appropriate members of the health care team.
  • Call and forward prescriptions with accuracy to pharmacy as ordered by physician.
  • Schedule various procedures and/or appointments with other physicians, as necessary.
  • Perform specific procedures and/or assist as needed in a professional and accurate manner.
  • Clean and stock exam and procedure rooms.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments.
  • Provide orientation to new resident physicians and nursing staff, as well as other medical students.
  • Assist with the teaching/training of family medicine resident physicians in clinical procedures in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Assist with telephone triage.
  • Maintain and restock crash cart.
  • Assist with the creation and development of Minot Center for Family Medicine policies and procedures, as well as ongoing evaluation of updates, as requested.
  • Attend meetings and in-services as scheduled.
  • Participate in in-service training, Basic Life Support recertification every two years, and attend all staff and nursing meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in departmental quality assessment and improvement programs.
  • Participate in departmental education programs.
  • Obtain continuing education credits as required to renew licensure as required by the state of North Dakota, and submit renewal receipt to supervisor.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to work closely with and as a team member in conjunction with staff, faculty, and medical residents.
  • Ability to work with diverse patient populations and the general public in a professional, calm, and confidential manner.
  • Ability to perform injections for immunizations, as well as other medications.
  • Ability to adhere to clinic safety protocols.
  • Ability to adhere to clinic policies and procedures, including TB testing policy.
  • Ability to perform nursing procedures and operations according to established policies and procedures for the profession

Minimum Requirements:
 

  • Minimum of RN licensure in the State of North Dakota.
  • Current intravenous (IV) certification or certification eligible.
  • One year experience as a registered nurse.
  • Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • 2 years experience in a family medicine or primary care clinical setting.
  • Experience with University of North Dakota/North Dakota University System policies and procedures.
