Position Description:
The Career and Advising Center is seeking an Academic and Career Advisor. Academic and Career Advisors at NDSU are part of a team of professionals that work together to provide student-centric, proactive, consistent, and collaborative support to students as they complete their academic program at NDSU and pursue career or further education opportunities. The role of the Academic and Career Advisor spans both academic and career advising.

This specific position will advise undeclared students and support students in their major and career exploration. This person will serve as the primary academic advisor for new and returning undeclared students, typically working with first and second year students. The advisor will provide career-related support regarding major choice and career exploration resources. This position is responsible for teaching multiple sections of a major exploration and academic planning course.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- One year of relevant experience working with undergraduate students in academic, personal, or career planning and goal setting
- Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated computer skills such as the ability to use Microsoft Office spreadsheets, word processing, and other related software
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Previous experience in academic or career advising
- Knowledge of student developmental learning theories
- Evidence of using creative and innovative approaches and strategies to support students
- Evidence of effective presentation, public speaking, and/or teaching experience
