DescriptionSummary: Under close supervision, performs a variety of technical work in relation to the maintenance of Williams County desktop, notebook, and telephone equipment. Examples of DutiesPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. Incumbents may not be required to perform all duties in this description, and incumbents may be required to perform position-specific tasks other than those listed in this job description. Installs, assembles, configures, and maintains County computers, monitors and peripherals including printers, scanners and related hardware.Configures security settings and access permissions to groups or individuals (Active Directory)Pulls cables and rewires cabling as required for new installations and office reconfigurations.Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance for network computer systems including hardware, software, and email.Places orders for equipment and partsInvestigates and resolves network and peripheral equipment problems; performs related repairs as required.Responds to technical service requests in a timely and prompt manner; accurately documents technical service call information into departmental computer system.Monitors and assists with ensuring the availability, connectivity and security of assigned technology related equipment.Performs preventative maintenance necessary to keep County computers and systems free of viruses, spyware, and adware.Schedules and provides training to technology end users as required.Coordinates and collaborates with Information Technology Department staff to research and implement the use of new technologies.Provides on-call technical support as scheduled and/or required.Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code. Typical QualificationsEducation, Experience and License/Certifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND two (2) years information technology experience;ORAssociate's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.A+, CNE, and/or Microsoft Desktop Support Technician certifications desired. Supplemental InformationRequired Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of principles and practices of information technology.Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and systems applications.Knowledge of network systems and infrastructures.Knowledge of telephone and voicemail systems.Knowledge of processes for investigating and resolving technology related issues. Skill in maintaining and repairing computer, network and telephone systems.Skill in providing technical support regarding computer hardware, software, and email systems.Skill in troubleshooting telephone and voicemail system issues.Skill in responding promptly to technical service requests and providing on-call assistance.Skill in ensuring the availability and security of computer systems and technology related equipment.
Special Working Conditions: Work is performed in a technology environment and involves working in confined spaces.May be exposed to heights, variable weather conditions, and potentially stressful situations.Must be able to lift up to 85 pounds.Must be available to provide on-call technical support outside of normal work hours.Compensation: Salary ranges from $22-$26/hour depending on experience and training.
