JOB SUMMARY (BRIEF):

Supervises and coordinates activities of lead personnel and technicians in the Forming Value Stream (press brake and laser), to be efficient in their daily operations engaging across multiple processes. Ensures all team members are following work instructions and processes. Establishes daily and weekly goals. Supports work force applying knowledge of these processes involved, production methods, problem solving, and decision making.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Manage resources to maintain on schedule completion following the Forming VS schedule provided form planning
  • Ensures all transactions related to labor, time and attendance, vacation approval, inventory, scrap (etc.); are completed in an accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures work availability and address labor moves as necessary to maintain productivity
  • Communicates daily pre-shift planning goals and distribution of resources so that objectives requiring action plans for day, week etc are worked on and achieved
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment through 6S initiatives, enforcing corporate policy and procedures, and verification of safe employee work habits.
  • Maintain departmental supplies, tools, fixtures, equipment, and order as necessary and that daily operator preventative maintenance requirements, on equipment is completed with documentation.
  • Maintains employee skill matrix/competency forms, for his/her department to assure all employees are effectively cross trained to manage the area regardless of absence of employee, vacations etc
  • Leads by example and with respect for his/her employees and peers. Conducts him/herself in professional manner through appearance, written and verbal communications.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws to include training employees, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees working in conjunction with the VSM.
  • Leads, participates in, and engages employees on continuous improve efforts aimed at improving processes - generating cost savings.
  • Motivates team members; acts as and management representative. Supports VSM with employee reviews.
  • Communicates with Purchasing and Maintenance departments as needed
  • Supports cycle counting of frequently used materials as requested by Planning
  • Replaces the VSM in the event of an absence.
  • Other duties as required
EDUCATION / SKILLS REQUIRED:

Minimum of 5 years experience.

Bachelors degree in Operations, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering is preferred

High level of interpersonal skills to elicit maximum performance from employees.

Experience with 6S and Lean Principles as well as strong Safety background.

Understanding of Quality process (isolation, disposition, analysis, and corrective action).
