We look for strong, stand-out recruits with the desire to elevate our organization and make it the best it can be - for our associates, our customers and our community This position requires a high-performing individual that understands fully the various legal and regulatory requirements that influence bulk hazardous liquid transport design, as well as dynamic structural integrity validation for significantly varied working environments; and is able to blend them into practical and reliable Cargo Tank Motor Vehicle (CTMV) solutions for a varied list of customers from concept through full market introduction. The desired individual will possess a broad range of demonstrated mechanical design, development and predictive modeling success, as well as physical design validation skills and experience. Additionally, they will possess a depth of knowledge and expertise in a number of diverse product and technical areas that can be leveraged to mitigate risk and warranty exposure for the brand. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who is excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. This individual will be innovative and a creative team player; collaborating in a structured launch environment with colleagues across the organization to drive the successful development of innovative products, to both ensure the sustained health of a mature product offering of a market leader, as well as the growth and expansion of the brand into new markets. Generates innovative concepts and fully validated designs for new CTMVs to satisfy varied customer requirements, that are often more complex than the minimum requirements described in regulatory governance. Lead and participate in concept generation activities. Conducts risk analysis for products under development. Conduct and document Failure Mode and Effects Analysis Performs tolerance analysis of components and assemblies to ensure proper fit and function. Develops protocols, plan testing, and perform or monitor product testing that ensures product safety and efficacy. Utilize statistical methods as required to plan testing and to analyze test results. Write test reports which draw conclusions from the results. Ensures that all work satisfies the requirements of the company's quality expectations and consistent with engineering standards Conducts Design Reviews as specified in project plans, and in accordance with company procedure. Prepares documentation release packages, including detail drawings, bills of material, and/or procedures. Approve Document Change Orders as situationally required and obtain approvals from others as needed. Participates in Material Review activities. Make decisions regarding product and material discrepancies and initiate appropriate action to prevent subsequent problems or discrepancies. Ensures that the regulatory requirements of "code" and "non-code" CTMVs are consistently managed and updated under the legal requirements set forth in the CFR, and the law relative to each is uniformly and consistently applied across the enterprise, setting corporate policy and ensuring a favorable competitive cost position in the market Generates Project Charters in collaboration with Product Development teams and APQP process, and actively manage and provide status on the project's critical path, schedule, tasks, issues, risks and changes. Ensures Design and Technical requirements are sufficiently documented and executed; managing and communicating changes as necessary. Conducts lessons learned, project reconciliation and project close. Assists with coordinating and administering company policies and programs Collaborates with engineering peers and cross-functional stakeholders across the enterprise, supporting them with relevant and timely direction Education: College Degree Major Desired: Must be current as a licensed Professional Engineer ("PE"), in Canada and United States. Must be a Transport Canada Design Certifying Engineer (CT DCE) as defined in CSA B620 8.1.5. BS in mechanical engineering; MS in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Skills/Knowledge: Minimum of 10 years of CTMV mechanical design and development experience, along with an associated impeccable record of safety. History in establishing and managing a production engineering team in a custom engineered product environment, international establishment of a design team is a plus. Demonstrated experience in Linear and Non-Linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA), with a demonstrated proficiency in collaboration between FEA predictive modeling and physical testing Expertise in stainless steel and aluminum structural design and the special permit process for exemption. Proficiency and adeptness in relevant sections of 49CFR, ASME and other regulations as relates to the details of hazardous cargo transportation design and structural integrity requirements. Proficiency in SolidWorks sheet metal and large assembly management. Experience in VAULT/PDM systems. Outstanding Design for Manufacturability skills Expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Demonstrated excellence in change management, including the ability to influence, motivate and persuade Experience in SAP Proficiency in ProEngineer/CREO and Autocad Inventor and SolidWorks 2017 or higher Lean Training/ White Belt Training minimum Equal opportunity employer.
