JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The SOTP Behavioral Health department provides outpatient treatment to sex offenders (who are living in the community). Group delivery of treatment, assessment of risk, travel to locations were services are provided (Park Rapids, Detroit Lakes, Crookston, Thief River Falls, Baudette, Grand Rapids); collaboration with DOC agents/probation agents and other stakeholders; completion of billing requirements for group sessions. Internship responsibilities include: Research into evidence based practices or treatment delivery and reduction of risk for sex offenders: adults and adolescents. Start with shadowing current treatment staff in group and exposure to SOTP specific expectations/requirements (trainings, jargon, documentation, assessments). As knowledge and experience increase, participation levels and responsibility levels (such as leading groups with a co-therapist) could be expected; billing and documentation of group sessions; assisting with implementation of changes within the program from policies and procedures to creation of training manual for new staff. Internship qualifications include: Must be able to commit to the scheduled hours during the 12 week internship, strong communication skills, and proficiency with computer programs and applications such as Outlook and Microsoft office. Applicants would have a major in one of the following areas: psychology, social work, sociology, community counseling, family social science, community mental health, and addiction counseling. This is a paid internship experience and student(s) that are accepted will be expected to comply with all Sanford policies and procedures. The intern must commit to the hours scheduled during the 12-week internship.
Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Collaborates with departmental associates and management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
