Job Summary

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Emergency Management / Public Safety Internship Description:
The Emergency Management / Public Safety Internship position provides the intern with an opportunity to participate in the daily activities of a large healthcare emergency management program. Activities include mitigation and planning projects, exercises and corrective action processes and special events planning as necessary. This internship is with the Sanford Enterprise Public Safety program and will expose the intern to large-scale emergency operations center management.
Internship Responsibilities:
• Intern will work directly with Public Safety Director in managing the organizational electronic Incident Command program
• Intern will be trained in the use of the electronic incident command program and will experience one on one interaction with high level emergency operations staff on a number of organization projects.
• Create and manage call lists and response related to disaster activations
• Research and assist in the development of a Sanford Enterprise Crisis Action Plan.
• Attend administrator training and be an effective self-starter on projects within the ICS program
• May be required to support a command center after hours or over the duration of a disaster event.
• May be called upon to assist in rapid development of contingency plans during system failures.
Qualifications
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work on some occasions with minimal supervision
• Ability to be dynamic in project management as EM projects are prioritized and re-prioritized on a regular basis Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

Qualifications

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
