Job Summary

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
This individual will work within the Public Affairs department to help effectively tell the Sanford story to our internal and external stakeholders. This will be done through journalism efforts, data collecting, shadowing, and other various forms of information compiling. The work environment will be a mixture of office setting and off-site meetings. Intern will contribute to the maintenance and organization of various efforts that align Sanford employees with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
-The primary responsibilities will be interviewing and data collecting to compile our community involvement efforts through various article writing and story telling methods for Sanford Health News.
-The intern will also help research and compile information for a community annual report as well as community involvement (i.e. boards, committees, volunteer efforts, etc.)
-Compare and contrast community relations efforts between Sanford and other industry leaders.
-The intern will have the opportunity to shadow and attend meetings and community events as able. This individual will be working with leaders within Sanford, as well as our community, so a high sense of professionalism is necessary.
-Other activities as identified and needed by Public Affairs team.
Qualifications:
Preferred hours will equal to no more than 32 hours per week for 12 weeks.
Skills: proficient writing skills, journalism experience, ability to build relationships, self-starter, professionalism, confidentiality
Preferred major: Journalism/Communications/Public Relations Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

Qualifications

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
