Job Summary

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
The students selected for the Fall Internship Program will work mainly in the Sanford Cardiovascular Clinic and partner with our Cardiologists and Cardiology fellows on various retrospective research projects, as well as quality improvement projects and case reports. Tasks include clinical case review, validation and analyses of clinical data, and abstract/manuscript preparation.
  • Retrospective chart review projects.
  • QA of clinical data elements between the medical record and database.
  • Quality improvement projects required for certifications.
  • Observation of procedures in the Cath Lab, clinic visits, cardiac testing, and hospital consults.
  • Attend Sanford's internal cardiac-type conferences and research meetings.
  • Assist with case report development.

Qualifications:
  • Will only consider those students seriously planning on attending Medical School.
  • Must be a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in the Medical Field or an immediate graduate having received one of the previously listed majors.
  • Must be able to commit to the hours Scheduled during the 12 week internship.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. Attend training and development opportunities, learning about various processes and functions within the organization.

Qualifications

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
