Sr Software Engineer

Genesis10 is seeking a Sr Software Engineer for a contract position with our client in Mounds View, MN. Summary: This role will be primarily focused on deploying and supporting Hortonworks stacks for our customers using great customer service, Terraform and Ansible. This role with assist with other cloud engineering duties that are assigned to the team as needed. Responsibilities: Work in collaboration with development and IT Operations team to Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for deploying and maintaining Hortonworks resources Build and maintain observability and alerting across application and infrastructure Automation of manual tasks using scripting Identify bottlenecks in the development process and implement solutions Work with developers to optimize applications for performance and scale Administer AWS/Azure resources and provide guidance on utilization Ensure we are releasing code safely, securely and frequently Investigate and adopt new technologies/tools as needs arise Due to nature of job manager wants this contractor working onsite. Qualifications: Good team skills are essential for this role, as there is a great deal of day-to-day collaboration that takes place as we build and deliver solutions. Bachelor Degree required 2 years relevant experience Experience with Hortonworks a huge plus. Candidates without Hortonworks experience but the right skills will be considered. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills General knowledge and experience with container technologies such as docker. Strong Linux skills Awareness and/or understanding of security principles Scripting/coding experience is a plus. Awareness/Experience with configuration management/infrastructure as code tooling. Terraform is preferred. Experience with monitoring and alerting solutions Experience working with cloud resources (AWS, and Azure). Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization Awareness/Up to date with latest industry patterns and tooling. Independence and self-motivation while still being able to work with others collaboratively Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, high-energy environment Good team skills are essential for this role, as there is a great deal of day-to-day collaboration that takes place as we build and deliver solutions.
