Inside Sales Customer Service

SUMMARY: Assists walk in and telephone customers in a polite, pleasant and efficient manner. Assists circulation and advertising customers. Also responsible for cash handling, reports, proofing and filing.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Handle phone inquiries and address concerns from customers, and dealers in a pleasant, polite and efficient manner.
• Assist classified and house account advertising customers.
• Process cash payments and accurately maintain database for both circulation and advertising.
• Complete reports as needed.
• Sell print and online advertising to accounts
• Process ad copy in an accurate and timely fashion and be responsible for the insertion /placement of advertising.
• Handle credit and adjustment questions for accounts in effective, courteous manner.
• Sell special section advertising and make presentations in person and electronically.
• Respond sensitively to needs of accounts and maintain good working relationships with our customers by providing outstanding customer service.
• Suggest copy layout and scheduling of ads.
• Maintain professional demeanor in dealings with business community, fellow workers and other departments within the newspaper.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Daily computer processing and other duties as assigned.
• Assist additional departments as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Office document applications preferred.
• Two years sales experience, preferable in the newspaper industry or other media.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.
• Time management skills while working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment that often includes multiple, concurrent projects.
• Strong Computer skills
