Hiring Department: Center for Rural Health

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:    $38,000/Annual  Full Time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans. 
Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm   May require occasional evenings or weekend hours due to programmatic deadlines or work travel. 
Working from home or remotely is not an available option for this position.

The Center for Rural Health (CRH) at the University of North Dakota is seeking an experienced and talented individual to serve as an Project Coordinator for the National Research Center on Native American Aging (NRCNAA), a federally-funded grant dealing with American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian aging issues. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Project coordination.
  • Leading administrative and technical support functions.
  • Dissemination of information through presentations and other delivery methods.
  • Performing/participation in program activities.


Competencies:

  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects in a professional work environment.
  • Experience using computers, specifically with Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or similar), email, and Internet usage.
  • Ability to research topics and garner information from professional and technical sources. 
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a culturally appropriate manner with AI/AN populations.
  • Strong, analytical problem solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Must have good organization skills, a high level of attention to detail, and be able to meet deadlines, prioritize and work both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Be willing to travel occasionally to national, regional, or local events/meetings.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, business, research methodology, Indian studies, public administration.  Willing to consider any Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience.  
  • 1 year of experience in project coordination or similar work.
  • Must demonstrate 2 years of successful work relationships and/or other non-work connections and interactions with Native American populations (may include academic, volunteer, or employment experiences).  Applicants must provide a statement in cover letter detailing how they meet this requirement.

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of Criminal History Records Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Native elder issues, policy, aging health research, grant writing experience.
  • Work-related experience with Native American populations.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Training and teaching experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
