Job Details

Position Description:
The Lead Teacher is responsible for assisting in managing the daily operations of the NDSU Wellness Center Child Care, preparing developmentally appropriate classroom environments, planning and implementing lesson plans based on the knowledge of each child's development and the North Dakota Learning Guidelines while providing direct care for children. This position will supervise and provide leadership to student staff members, promote home/center relations as well as partner with families. The Child Care Lead Teacher will assist in supervising the safe operation of the Child Care and promote customer service, teamwork, and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development/Human Development and Family Science, Early Childhood Special Education or related field
• 1 year of experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years
• Demonstrated successful supervisory experience in a child care setting
• Ability to work effectively with children and family members who have diverse customs and backgrounds
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• 3+ years working with children ages 6 weeks to 5 years
• Infant-Child CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification
• Experience working with drop-off child care
• Experience using Teaching Strategies Gold assessment

Physical Demands:
Ability to continuously sit, stand, lift, crouch, kneel, bend, walk, run, and lift up to 35 pounds.
