Purpose of Position

Our architects lead the design of sites and buildings that represent the mission, purpose, culture and brand of our clients while innovatively addressing the functional requirements within.

And, our architects lead clients through our process-driven approach to create space to uncover today's challenges and tomorrow's true needs, then facilitate and coordinate the planning, programming, and design to bring them to reality.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead client in discussion, identification and review of the directives for the project using the Performa Process
  • Assist client in establishing the organizational, operational, functional and experiential requirements for the project
  • Conduct user group workshops to identify the qualitative and quantitative requirements for the project
  • Develop various conceptual frameworks for organizing the overall site and facility and review with a client
  • Lead the conceptual, schematic and design development of assigned projects
  • Coordinate the design activities of all professional disciplines assigned to the project including consultants
  • Create designs that represent our clients' mission, culture and brand while innovatively addressing the functional requirements within
  • Maintain client contact during the design process through construction document phase
  • Communicate owner directives and design decisions to project team
  • Lead the authoring of project specifications
  • Coordinate building code review and agency approvals
  • Develop an understanding of how to effectively leverage capital initiatives through the technical fields of architecture and engineering
  • Ability to see and seize sales opportunities within current and potential clients
  • Coordinate successful transition of projects won to the Director of Operations and project managers
  • Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science (with major in Architecture) or Bachelor of Architecture
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant work experience
  • Architectural registration and NCARB certification
  • Experience in the design and construction of facilities related to corporate, commercial, manufacturing and/or higher education
  • Skills and Experience

  • Able to function effectively in a demanding environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Able to create construction documents, details and the technical aspects of building projects; review construction documents or accuracy and appropriate applications
  • Able to author technical specifications
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, regulations and requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of building materials and construction methods; knowledge of procedures and sequencing of construction documents
  • Technical prowess to speak the client's language
  • Strong organizational, negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work with modest supervision and guidance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to apply logical steps to problem-solving
  • Team player attitude; caring; demonstrates respect for others
  • Strong computer aptitude to include knowledge of computer-aided modeling (Revit) and Microsoft Office applications
