YOUR ROLE

Senior architects are Project Architects with additional responsibilities. In addition to the roles of Project Architect, they are in charge of multiple projects, assembling design, proposals, leading design and specification efforts, managing staff, quality assurance/quality control of construction documents, and completing projects from design through construction. Senior architects serve as client managers, while actively leading business development efforts and preparing proposals and presentations to win projects.

SENIOR ARCHITECT PROJECT ARCHITECT RESPONSIBILITIES PLUS

Takes a leadership role in all phases of design: schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding and negotiation, and construction administration.

Act as a technical expert with regard to specialized designs and will offer firm-wide support with regard to ensuring a quality design process.

Has supervisory or lead responsibility over a group of architects or designers.

Demonstrates a high degree of competence, capabilities, and architectural experience resulting from progressive responsibilities.

Interfaces with clients at a social, technical, and contract level.

Makes independent decisions on architectural problems and methods. May be assigned to check the work of others.

Applies skills to minimize risks and vulnerabilities and seeks means to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Reviews and approves all work performed under his/her supervision

Responsible for ensuring compliance with all codes and standards.

Supervises the preparation and checks the accuracy of contract documents.

Capable of providing leadership and motivation to a team that is performing a sequence of tasks in order to meet milestones.

Has authority to assemble design proposals and execute design contracts, incorporating necessary scope and consultants for a financially successful project, in cooperation with managing principal.

Manage financial and time performance metrics of project.

Work to meet or exceed QA standards.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE PROJECT ARCHITECT PLUS:

You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture with North Dakota registration, or the ability to obtain license upon employment, with at least 15 years of successful post-graduate design and consulting experience

You have managed multiple projects of various types and scales at the same time with varying timelines and delivered successful projects on schedule

You have strong technical skills and production experience using AutoCAD (required) and Revit (preferred) and implement those skills into the production of construction documents

You have outstanding time management skills and are able to prioritize various tasks and team resources throughout the course of projects to maintain reasonable work loads for the team

You understand efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining the standard of service to clients

You have solid knowledge of construction materials, standards, and costs

You understand and can manage the financial metrics for successful completion and performance of projects

You have strong communication and conceptual design skills; fluency in SketchUp, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator is preferred

You have successfully worked in teams and have outstanding listening and communication skills

You advocate proactively for the field of Architecture and enjoy sharing knowledge, presenting and encouraging students to explore it as a career

You have a strong background in writing specifications

You go the extra mile to make sure projects are completed on time and on budget and are in the trenches with team members to facilitate progress on projects

This position is located in our Williston office; however occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may need to be penciled in
