Overview:

The Operational Risk Leader develops, implements, and maintains an effective Operational Risk program that enables Securian Financial and its affiliates to comprehensively identify, understand, assess, manage, monitor, report, and review operational risk. The Operational Risk Leader will design an operational risk management framework that focuses on managing risk and enabling the enterprise to achieve its objectives.


What you would do in this job:


  1. Develop, implement, support and maintain the enterprise operational risk management framework, governance, policies, procedures, and tolerances designed to enable the enterprise to achieve its objectives while managing its operational risks.
  2. Develp and implement an operational risk quantification methodology and related reporting using industry best practices.
  3. Engage senior leaders across the business to coordinate and influence risk management activities and decisions while promoting a culture of operational risk awareness.
  4. Enhance risk governance requirements and processes across all operations. Monitor adherence to the operational risk framework and tolerances.
  5. Develop tolerances, risk metrics, key indicators, and early warning indicators and partner with leaders across the business to integrate into business processes.
  6. Communicate with Senior Management, the Board of Directors, rating agencies, regulators, and other audiences about operational risk topics.
  7. Execute the annual risk control self-assessment and scenario analysis processes Company-wide.
  8. Support the development and implementation of tools, techniques, policies, processes, and procedures across the Enterprise Risk Management department.


What we'd expect from you:


  1. 5-10 years' experience in operational risk management.
  2. Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to work effectively, establish credibility, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels within the business and enterprise risk function.
  3. Strong planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities.
  4. Ability to develop strategies, implement and manage enterprise-wide programs, solve complex problems, and manage critical, complex and often highly sensitive incidents.



Preferred skills for this job:


  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Physical job requirements:


  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 3-6 hours per day
  • Ability to utilize phone for approximately 1-3 hours per day
  • Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday
