Hiring Department: Geriatrics, School of Medicine and Health Sciences


Minimum Hiring Salary / Position Classification: $42,000/year, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave. Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long term care insurance, flexible spending account,Signed  supplemental retirement plans.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm

The purpose of this position is to oversee all elements of the recently funded, five year HRSA Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program. Called the Dakota GWEP, the program has two overarching goals:  1) strengthen Geriatrics education for healthcare workers and trainees, and 2) transform primary care into age and dementia friendly enterprises. Duties include:
Execute the work plan for the Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP):

  • Kick off meetings with partners
  • One – on – one meetings with stakeholders
  • Programmatic status reports
  • Periodic progress reports
  • Prepare Presentations and publications
  • Government reports (HRSA guidelines)
  • Role responsibility matrices
  • Project organization
  • Project deliverables and milestones (including dashboard display)
  • Invitations to recurrent meetings such as monthly ECHO sessions for Geriatric telementoring  
  • Enroll older adults into an Aging Registry
  • Set - up automated reminders to project participants about due dates for their projects
  • Awareness campaign via e-newsletters, social media and other media
  • Gather healthcare teams to enroll in the Age – Friendly initiative.

Oversee project’s budget, resources, and reporting

  • Invoicing
  • Reimbursements
  • Monitoring budget
  • Collate data   


Required Competencies:

  • Project managerial training and skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with clear leadership
  • Software knowledge to run project (Microsoft Project) and databases (Microsoft Access or Excel)
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • Strong verbal and writing communication skills
  • Ability to Travel
  • Ability to oversee multiple core projects within the program that are both educational  and clinical

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Art or Science degree in Business, Accounting, Education, Public Health, Psychology or Healthcare field.
  • 5 years of project management experience.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check.
