Building Maintenance Worker

This position will perform a wide variety of duties in the facility construction, renovation, maintenance and repair of University of South Dakota facilities. Specifically, this position will be responsible for the repairs, replacement and modifications of wood/metal or other materials utilized in furniture and casework, finish work, framework, rafters, trusses, interior and exterior trim, staircases and other wood or wood substitute articles, building, structural additions, modifications or repairs. Facilities Management is committed to the highest standard of customer relations principles for its customers, fellow staff members, students, and visitors. Staff will serve as role models by practicing exemplary behaviors when working with customers, fellow staff members and the supervisory team. Successful candidate should possess the skills necessary to independently analyze an issue to identify the proper questions, determine what information is needed, obtain the necessary information, organize and analyze the data, form conclusions, formulate and perform appropriate actions; this employee will also have the responsibility to know maintenance issues that require collaboration and coordination among all maintenance and operations staff. It is expected that the employee will complete work order administration, time accounting, and parts procurement in a clear and timely manner. It is a basic job expectation that all staff take the initiative to appropriately coordinate, document and communicate in a professional manner. Hours are Wed-Sun 7:30am -4:00pm
