Position Description:
The North Dakota State University Libraries seeks collaborative and engaged candidates for the position of Processing Archivist. This position provides leadership and direction for activities that provide physical and intellectual access to the unique resources of the NDSU Libraries' Special Collections ( NDSU Archives and the Germans from Russia Heritage Collection) by performing, administering, evaluating, and ensuring consistency in processing and digitization policies and procedures. In addition, the Processing Archivist manages the NDSU Archives, including overseeing collection development, providing specialized reference and research assistance for users of its collections, monitoring budgets, and supervising staff, graduate assistants, and volunteers. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Libraries for Research and Learning and supervises the NDSU Archives staff, which includes full-time staff members, student employees, and volunteers. This new position offers exciting opportunities to develop and implement workflows and service models as the NDSU Libraries explores a new organizational structure for its Special Collections.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Accredited MLIS / MLS and/or master's degree in a related field such as Museum Studies or Public History.
• Academic background in a relevant subject area such as American History
• Archival experience in a library, museum, historical society, or similar environment
• Working knowledge of metadata schemas, cataloging rules, standards, and their application, including but not limited to: EADS , Dublin Core, XML , RDA , MARC21, AACR2, LCSH
• Knowledge of standards and best practices in digitization of archival materials
• Experience with content management software, such as ArchivesSpace, DSpace, and/or CONTENTdm
• 1 year supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Academy of Certified Archivists ( ACA ) certification
• Three to five years progressively responsible archival experience
• Knowledge of the history of the Northern Great Plains
• Reading knowledge of German
• 2+ years supervisory experience
