JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Clinic will plan, direct, and assist with the implementation of medical and health services and programs of the ambulatory services department providing clinical services to patients. Establishes appropriate levels of care and ensures that high standards and quality in healthcare are met. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including, but not limited to customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Provide leadership and direction for the clinical and business operations of multiple clinic areas and programs to ensure the delivery of quality patient care, high patient satisfaction, financial stewardship and the development of services according to the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Sanford Clinic. Maintain communication between governing boards, medical staff, and department heads. Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Review and analyze facility activities and data to aid planning and cash and risk management and to improve service utilization. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity. Assist and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, and coordinating financial reporting. Prepare activity reports to inform management of the status and implementation plans of programs, services, and quality initiatives. Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance. Direct or conduct recruitment, hiring, and training of personnel. Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees in an organization. Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability. Depending upon location may provide assistance in overseeing all student health services for local colleges/universities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work. Possesses knowledge of tools and techniques for designing and implementing new processes. Participates in establishing procedures for planning, implementing and monitoring budgets. Mediates and resolves conflicts among individuals, groups, and departments. Manages diverse problems in various healthcare policy compliance situations. Helps promote collaboration across generations, functions, regions, and levels. Facilitates communications across departments to ensure a smooth workflow in the healthcare organization. Determines, plans, and budgets for long-term learning and developmental needs. Demonstrates sincere interest in mentee's current responsibilities and future goals. Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact. Compares planned budgets vs. actual expenditures, identifies, reports, and explains variances. Assesses departmental staffing needs; actively participates in resourcing efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Nursing or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in leading and managing a multifunctional business or complex organization. Must have some knowledge in the following: clinical practices, strategic planning, administrative, and/or financial principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Licensure and/or certification in area of healthcare specialty preferred.
