Sales Training Specialist

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

The Sales Training Specialist is responsible for providing learner-centered development programs focused on our Corporates Segment, which are designed to equip sales personnel with the skills that drive sales performance and business growth.

This position requires that the incumbent possess a combination of facilitation skills, as well as knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory. Experience designing and developing content for online learning environments is also necessary.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Efficiently develop curricula for sales teams and internal partners
  • Conduct needs analysis studies to uncover training needs and suitable delivery methods
  • Partner with sales management and other internal stakeholders to develop and deliver effective training
  • Monitor the effectiveness of existing training materials and programs and evaluate new training programs to determine overall effectiveness
  • Develop effective communication vehicles to ensure training programs are fully understood and appropriately valued by the students and other stakeholders
  • Design and deliver additional corporate training experiences as needed
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Provide continuous follow-up with clients and ongoing evaluation of training programs
  • Design and develop a variety of learning materials; including facilitator guides, digital learning assets, self-study guides, case studies, demonstrations, and simulations
  • Migrate instructor-led training to online asynchronous learning as appropriate
  • Completes all projects in an efficient manner, always evaluating the value of the project to the business to determine the appropriate time and resources to devote to the project
  • Consult with internal stakeholders on ways to leverage training that satisfies business strategies and sales goals
  • Effectively incorporate adult learning principles into all components of curriculum, with a particular emphasis on accelerated learning design and development
  • Diagnose learning needs and propose solutions by gathering consensus about targeted behavior change and cause of the current state
  • Apply business acumen to build and document a business case for investing in learning and development programs
  • Plan and implement projects by developing action plans, obtaining resources, and completing assignments in a timely manner to ensure learning goals are achieved
  • Communicate effectively by expressing thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise and compelling manner.
  • Model personal development by actively identifying new areas for one's own personal learning; regularly create and take advantage of learning opportunities; apply newly gained knowledge and skill on the job
  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 or more years of experience designing and delivering soft skills training, product training, and/or sales training for a variety of job levels; working with sales populations is a plus
  • Experience with Corporate Tax Departments and/or solutions that benefit them is a plus
  • Experience with live training facilitation using web conferencing tools like WebEx, Zoom, or other synchronous learning environments
  • Experience designing/developing digital content using tools like Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, WordPress, etc. preferred
  • Strong Business Acumen required
  • Self-motivated, collaborative and self-directed team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable establishing and prioritizing objectives, as well as working with cross-functional teams to achieve them
  • Can learn and navigate quickly when faced with new, unfamiliar or ambiguous situations
  • Additional desired qualities may include innovative thinking, action-oriented, ability to drive system and process improvements, ability to build relationships, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, superior communication skills, superior writing skills
  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent written communication skills. Proven skill in writing for business, as well as superior use of vocabulary, grammar and letter structure
  • Strong listening skills; seeks clarification and complete understanding of an issue prior to taking action
  • Builds on-going business relationships within, and outside of, Sales Learning segment
  • Utilizes discretionary decision making to effectively achieve outcomes beneficial to all departments and parties involved
  • Identifies and finds solutions to potential training problems which may be systemic to the organization
  • Open, honest, and professional; displays confidence and courage in difficult or adverse situations
  • Detail oriented, self motivated and able to work independently
