Discover Lodging Management, Inc. is seeking to fill a General Manager position at the AmericInn by Wyndham located at 1200 Paul Bunyan Drive NW in Bemidji MN. This 59 room hotel features an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness room, guest laundry and an expanded continental breakfast. The General Manager oversees the management of the entire hotel in order to meet financial goals and uphold guest satisfaction.

General Manager Primary Duties and Accountabilities

-Leads the management of the hotel staff in such a way to increase hotel profitability and guest satisfaction. Responsibilities include overseeing the interviewing, hiring, training, work direction, and performance management of all employees. Also tasked with creating a motivating work environment to allow for development of employees.

Community Relations

Oversees annual wage review and ensures that all employee wages follow federal, state, and local wage and hour guidelines.

Assists in preparing the annual operating budget as well as the annual marketing plan.

Develops a long-term business plan that will increase the hotel’s profitability and guest satisfaction with the property, services offered, and staff.

Must appropriately address guest requests to ensure guests are satisfied with the hotel’s services and accommodations.

Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for guest safety and security.

Fills in for vacant shifts as needed.

Assists with sales and marketing efforts as needed.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience required.

Previous experience as a hotel General Manger or Assistant General Manager highly preferred.

2+ years of management or supervisory experience required.

Experience in all phases of hotel management, including sales and marketing, daily management of all areas of operations involving human resources, budget management, rooms, housekeeping, and maintenance.

Prior experience using Windows-based software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook highly preferred.

Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

Ability to work independently.

Superior customer service skills.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.
