Executive Director Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency Terch & Associates LLC on behalf of our client, the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA), is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Executive Director. About AEOA Founded in 1965, the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency is a Community Action Program serving 9 counties in Northeastern Minnesota. This 501(c)(3) organization employs approximately 350 people with the mission of creating economic opportunities in our service area. Through the work of our dedicated staff and nearly a thousand volunteers, AEOA provides transportation services through our Arrowhead Transit department; early child educational service through our Head Start program; housing, weatherization, and fuel assistance; employment and training services; and senior citizen nutrition services. We make a real, tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. About the Executive Director position The Executive Director is the chief executive of the organization and reports directly to the AEOA Board of Directors. With overall responsibility for oversight and execution of our mission and strategic goals, the Executive Director ensures that our communities are effectively served with the resources entrusted to our stewardship. Through leadership of the various department directors, engagement with stakeholders and funders, and partnerships with other organizations, the Executive Director represents AEOA to the broader community and helps us succeed in our mission areas. Major Position Responsibilities Works closely with Board to keep them fully informed of status of the organization Facilitates the Board's governance, composition and committee structure Implements Board policies and recommends policies for Board consideration Responsible for decisions and collective conformity to ensure strong administrative posture Selects and organizes an effective and competent management team Evaluates team members Provides an effective management structure Maintains high morale among staff Deals with interagency personality conflicts Fosters sense of teamwork, and a feeling of each individual's importance Serves as chief spokesperson, communicates with internal and external stakeholders Represents the agency at the legislature, within state agencies, and among coalitions and funders Possess technical knowledge, competency, and experience Establishes and meet financial operational and strategic targets and goals Responsible for maintaining systems to protect assets, and ensure effective control of operations Establishes and manages financial objectives Qualifications The ideal candidate will be an experienced organizational leader that has demonstrated a commitment to serving the underprivileged. The candidate will have a reputation of empathy, professionalism, and competence. These characteristics will be demonstrated by a history of collaborative decision-making, building partnership inside and outside of their organization, and creating trust and engagement with diverse populations. Other qualifications include: Bachelor's degree plus three years full-time paid experience in administering social service and/or economic assistance programs. Equivalent education and professional experience will be considered. Relevant fields of knowledge and experience needed to perform the job include social services/economic assistance programming, fiscal management, personnel management, business law, and management information systems applications. Managerial and/or supervisory experience as well as a background in community relations and state and local government functions are a desired qualification. Salary & Benefits This position is expected to pay, depending on qualifications, between $86,944 and $133,868 in annual salary plus a full suite of comprehensive employee benefits.
