DIVISION:  Applied Technology

SUPERVISOR: Dean of Applied Technology

BASIC FUNCTION:  Full-time nine-month teaching position with summer term supplemental contract. The position includes, but is not limited to, classroom theory, laboratory instruction using equipment and materials, maintenance of equipment, and curriculum development.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required – Diploma/Associate of Applied Science Degree from accredited Powerline Program or completion of a formal Journeyman Lineman Program.
Five years related work experience in all phases of utility work, including overhead and underground construction and related activities.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in electrical theory, transformers, safety, utility equipment operation, underground/overhead high voltage electrical systems, and line maintenance.
Holds valid CDL license or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Basic computer skills.
Preferred – Five years recent work/industry experience in electrical field including job supervision or management.
Skills in job supervision.
Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct effective instruction in all assigned areas, using approved course outlines.
2. Develop and maintain current course syllabi/outlines for assigned courses.
3. Notify the Division Dean, Vice President of Instruction and Learning Services, designee, or individual in charge as early as possible of inability to meet a class.
4. Measure and evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade computations. Submit grade reports to Student Services according to designated timelines.
5. Attend all faculty and division meetings and serve on college committees as appropriate.
6. Schedule and meet with program advisory committee a minimum of once per year.
7. Recommends additional media center instructional materials.
8. Assist in the budgeting process by identifying instructional materials and equipment.
9. Counsel, advise, and/or refer students as appropriate.
10. Maintains evidence of competency achievement (knowledge and application of knowledge) and demonstrate continuous professional development as outlined in the Quality Faculty Plan.
11. Assist in promotion and recruitment of the instructor’s respective program(s).
12. Submit requisitions for needed supplies to immediate supervisor.
13. Serve as a resource person for students and graduates regarding job opportunities.
14. Enforce all Northwest Iowa Community College student policies.
15. Participate in professional development activities.
16. Provide students written course expectations, including course objectives, attendance policy, methods of evaluation, and grading practices.

17. Instruct students in pole climbing through physical demonstration. Instructor climbing requirements are equal to the student pole climbing requirements for the program.
18. Demonstrate proper operation of both overhead and underground equipment such as, but not limited to, digger truck, basket truck, trenching equipment, etc.
19. Conducts business or industry training as needed.
20. Other duties as assigned.

WAGE/SALARY RANGE: $49,767 to $55,988 ($40,000 to $45,000 nine-month (172 day) annual salary plus $9,767 to $10,988 summer term (42-43 days) supplemental contract). Annual salary based on experience and education.
