This is a part-time position working 40 hours a pay period, including every other weekend and holiday. The hours are from 6:30 AM to 3 PM.

Scope:

• Works primarily in the dining room/kitchen areas, and has frequent contact with staff, residents, and residents’ family and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dining Room Preparation and Cleanup - Responsible for setting/clearing tables and arrangement of seating, setting neatly with flatware, napkins, and placemats. Ensure cleanliness and condition of all china and flatware. (Must be free of water spots, coffee cups free of coffee stains). Responsible for proper cleaning of the dining room and serving area between meals and at end of shift. Follow proper sanitation schedules. Responsible for dish and utensil washing including gathering solid items from cart, trays and dining areas. Put away clean and dry items in proper storage area. Keep assigned kitchenette clean and sanitized. Responsible for daily chemical log of dishwasher, daily temperature log of cooler. Daily cleaning and maintenance check of juice and coffee machines.
• Resident Service - Provide all areas of service to residents and guests in dining room based on their requests. Maintain good relationships with the residents and guests. Assist residents who need help in selecting their meals. Assist residents with seating and ensuring there are seats available when they arrive for dinner. Review and promptly report to the Cook or CDM all resident complaints and grievances. Uses good judgment in food serving using proper portion control based on tray cards. Set up dessert, beverage, and salad as needed for each meal, check food temperatures according to state guidelines and record. Keep all supplies stocked in serving area. Communicate any dietary changes with the supervisor.
• Other Duties as Assigned - Look for and report any items in need of repair to management. Perform all daily tasks in accordance with established sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures. Use applicable infection control procedures. In the event of a fire or emergency, will assist with resident evacuations. Attends in-service training, complies with all annual online education requirements, and other work related meetings as required or approved. Carries out special projects as identified. Helps with any other areas of the building as needed. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Education and Experience Required:

• Work experience in a service-orientated profession preferred, but not necessary. Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately. Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards the elderly is essential with the ability to work with a variety of residents with differing values, attitudes, capabilities, and dispositions. This position requires an ability to work effectively as a team and independently. Must be detail oriented, have strong time management and multitasking skills, and be well organized.
• Must complete and pass a state required background study.
• Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
• Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.
