JOB SUMMARY

Tis position may have access to medications and/or specimens for purposes of distributing.
Transports multiple items that may include any of the following: medical records, lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical supplies, x-rays, correspondence, freight, and miscellaneous items to ensure efficient flow of information and materials throughout various Sanford or other locations as required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver messages and items, such as newspapers, documents, and packages, between establishment departments, and to other establishments and private homes. Load vehicles with listed goods, ensuring goods are loaded correctly and taking precautions with hazardous goods. Deliver and pick up medical records, lab specimens, and medications to and from hospitals and other medical facilities. Walk, ride bicycles, drive vehicles, or use public conveyances to reach destinations to deliver messages or materials. Unload goods from large trucks, and load them onto smaller delivery vehicles. Unload and sort items collected along delivery routes. Sort items to be delivered according to the delivery route. Record information, such as items received and delivered and recipients' responses to messages. Receive messages or materials to be delivered, and information on recipients, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and delivery instructions, communicated via telephone, two-way radio, or in person. Plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivering goods. Perform routine maintenance on delivery vehicles, such as monitoring fluid levels and replenishing fuel. Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

This position will be PRN status, meaning hours aren't guaranteed and there are no benefits attached. Night Shift hours with differential.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduate or general education diploma (GED) is preferred.
Must be able to follow both structured and flexible delivery schedule. Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. Driver history must comply with Sanford driver qualification standards for insurability.
Current valid driver's license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category II drivers.
