The Sugar Warehouseman (SWHM) is responsible for assisting with loading and packaging sugar in the warehouse.  The SWHM must be able to safely perform all warehouse duties, including packaging; loading; and forklift operation.  Specific job functions include but are not limited to:  filling super sacks; operating the remelt system; cleaning, loading, and sealing rail cars and semi trucks; processing paperwork and entering data into computer systems; and assisting the Warehouse Bagger Technician, as needed.  The SWHM is responsible for thorough and accurate documentation with items such as bills of lading, weight tickets, the master sanitation schedule, and other business-related paperwork.  The SWHM is also responsible for performing routine cleaning including the operation of sanitizing equipment such as the sweeper. 

Basic mechanical aptitude is required with the ability to perform basic maintenance, including checking bearings, equipment adjustments, and greasing.  The SWHM must possess basic computer skills, which include inputting and verifying data.  The SWHM must be able to understand follow written and verbal communication from supervisors and the Sugar Warehouse Assistant Foremen.  The SWHM must also be able to communicate with truck drivers and employees.

This position is required to pass the sugar warehouse test, which includes demonstrating knowledge, skills, and abilities related to mathematical, computer, and good manufacturing practices (GMP).  The SWHM is also expected to pass the computer and hands on Rail Safe assessments and warehouse fall protection program.  The SWHM must be able to perform duties utilizing equipment including but not limited to:  water hoses, squeegees, brooms, and shovels. 

This position must have knowledge of safe operating procedures, personal protective equipment, quality standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Quality Foods (SQF), the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) as well as sanitation standards.  The employee must be able to complete documentation required for all positions, which includes but is not limited to logbooks, standard operating procedures, JSAs, LOTO procedures, and confined space entry permits.

Performs other duties as directed and works overtime.
