This position provides leadership, supervision and direction for academic advising, disability services, TRIO and develops multicultural awareness and outreach activities for students and employees. It serves as the Campus Diversity Officer (CDO) for the college, collaborating with college leadership on recruitment, retention and completion strategies and community outreach. This position will also develop a rich, holistic network of advising, counseling and support resources to increase retention and completion, and expand and strengthen diversity initiatives in the college to provide an inclusive and equitable college climate and ensure that every individual has a genuine opportunity for participation and success. This position will report to the Vice President of Student Success for the advising aspects of the position and directly to the President for the CDO role.

Minimum Qualifications::
A Bachelor's degree in a related field.
At least 3 or more years of related professional experience AND at least 3 or more years of supervisory experience.
Demonstrated experience in programs or activities related to equity, inclusion and diversity.
Experience with advising or counseling services in a related setting.
Proven intercultural competency skills and experience working with diverse cultures and populations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a strong team environment.
Evidence of experience and understanding of technology and computer software.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Ability to Travel (20%)
Knowledge of:
Higher education environment.
Advising and counseling strategies, principles and practices.
Contemporary issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Ability to:
Provide effective leadership in management and planning.
Manage, train, organize and evaluate the work of others to create a supportive environment for staff and students.
Communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
Compile data and prepare accurate reports.
Demonstrate a genuine commitment and work cooperatively and effectively with individuals and students of diverse ethnic and education backgrounds and with various segments of the college community to promote student success.
Perform consistently under the pressure of deadlines and other management demands and works cooperatively with others.
Maintain the confidentiality of private information according to laws, rules and policies and procedures while working with sensitive personal information.
Be self -motivated, flexible, innovative, enthusiastic, and demonstrate integrity.

Preferred Qualifications::
Graduate studies or credential from an accredited college or university in a related field.
Three or more years of supervisory or leadership experience in a related field.
Professional experience in higher education, preferably with a two-year institution in the Minnesota State system.
Supervisory experience in areas of responsibility.
Experience conducting and facilitating training and teaching.
Experience in a collective bargaining environment.

Knowledge of:
And an understanding of the mission of a comprehensive Community College.
Local, State and Federal policy and procedures regarding including but not limited to: Federal INS, SEVIS rules and regulations; and policies of EEO and ADA.
Of the ever-changing rules, regulations and policies established by Minnesota State and Ridgewater College, as well as maintaining the confidentiality of private information according to law, rules, policies and procedures.
