Position Description:
The North Dakota State University Libraries seeks collaborative candidates for the position of Metadata and Cataloging Librarian. This position is responsible for managing all metadata and cataloging functions; provides leadership to policy development related to metadata for digital collections; performs original and complex copy cataloging of materials in various formats for all collections; manages and supervises metadata and cataloging staff; provides overall responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the NDSU Libraries' bibliographic database; participates in scholarly activities, does committee work and completes other assigned tasks. The Metadata and Cataloging Librarian position reports to the Head of Resource Acquisition, Management and Discovery.

Minimum Qualifications:
• ALA -accredited Master's degree in Library and Information Science
• Minimum of one (1) year recent advanced cataloging experience
• Working knowledge of cataloging rules, metadata schemas, standards, and their application, including but not limited to: RDA , Dublin Core, MARC21, AACR2, NACO / SACO , CONSER , LCSH
• Experience cataloging a variety of bibliographic and physical formats
• Experience with integrated library systems (Alma, Aleph, Millennium, etc.)
• Experience with maintenance of bibliographic records, including batch importing and editing
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a changing, dynamic, and production-oriented environment
• Demonstrated customer service orientation, providing user-centered cataloging and metadata services
• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize work appropriately
• Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented and repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy
• Demonstrated flexibility and problem solving skills, exercising sound judgment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience training and supervising staff
• Experience with repository software, such as DSpace, CONTENTdm, and/or ArchivesSpace
