Job Details

Position Description:
(Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, weekend rotation and some evenings as necessary).

This position is located in the Residence Dining Center. The responsibilities include overall leadership and management, facilities management, supervising safe operation and role modeling teamwork and customer service.

Specific duties include:
  • Lead and support recruitment, onboarding and training for full-time, part-time and student staff.
  • Scheduling and ensuring staff coverage in the unit.
  • Review monthly financial statements and manage the budget for the unit.
  • Lead programming activities and events in unit.
  • Monitor and approve payroll for unit.
  • Provide innovative dining opportunities, ensure culinary excellence, offer nutritious and appealing selections and maintain high levels of satisfaction for students, faculty, staff and guests.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation standards are met and identify and correct unsafe or unsanitary situations/conditions.
  • Be a role model for teamwork and excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Business, related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years of experience in a food service operation or its equivalent
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a food service operation
  • Food production experience required
  • Experience as a trainer with the ability to develop/implement dining and hospitality training programs
  • Working knowledge of food safety principles, food allergens and special dietary needs
  • Experience with scheduling/controlling labor
  • Experience in food purchasing, controlling/maintaining food costs, executing inventories correctly
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with campus departments and staff
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to quickly and effectively resolve issues that arise with both staff and customers in a constructive manner
  • Excellent leadership qualities to implement a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to convey professional behavior and attitude to a diverse staff and customer base
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse campus community
  • Ability to work autonomously, independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to delegate, prioritize and multitask

Preferred Qualifications:
  • College or university food service experience preferred
  • Experience with menu management software preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred
  • Food safety certification preferred

Physical Demands:
Continuously: stand, walk, use hands dexterously (use fingers to handle, feel), taste or smell, see, talk and hear, lift up to 10 pounds
Frequently: lift up to 25 pounds
Occasionally: sit, climb or balance, stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
