Job Summary

Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. Demonstrates critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Some overnight call and every third weekend.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Department Details

Sign-On and relocation bonus available! This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week. Sanford Hillsboro Medical Center is a 16 bed hospital with 2 ER bays. The areas in the Lab include: Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Waived kit testing, Blood Bank(minimal), and Urinalysis(minimal). Each tech helps run the lab - daily tasks include chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, blood draws, etc. Shifts rotate between 6:30am-3:00pm, 7:30am-4:00pm, or 9:00am-5:30pm. The late shift would also be on call until the next morning and would then work the 6:30am shift to open the lab. Every 3rd weekend is part of the schedule working Saturday 8:00am-12:00pm and Sunday 8:00am-10:00am followed by call (5:30pm Friday through 6:30am on Monday.)

Qualifications

MLT: Associates degree in Laboratory Science required. Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

MLS: Bachelor’s degree in laboratory or biological sciences required. Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
