Director, Customer Solutions

Position Overview:

The Customer Solutions Director is responsible for developing new customer solution initiatives and guiding the transformation of current solutions. The primary focus is to drive sustainable positive results for Digi-Key by integrating and leveraging a variety of available resources. The Customer Solutions Director will support and lead the conceptualization and implementation of Digi-Key's Supply chain and digital (API, EDI, Punchout) solutions strategy and drive our efforts to continue expanding on the utility of Digi-Key's products & services with our customers.

This role will be responsible for working with the marketing team to ensure Digi-Key is taking an active role in public relations|press, social media as it relates to sponsor messages, press releases, etc.

This position is project oriented and will be required to demonstrate strong innovation, consulting and relationship building & management skills. The Customer Solutions Director will work with a variety of Digi-Key's global team as well as external partners (current, and prospect) to nurture and grow new & expanded customer opportunities for Digi-Key.

Responsibilities:

Must be able to...
  • ​ Provide a strategic perspective to customer facing|customer engagement teams, delivering critical business insights and launching initiatives that impact the market
  • Develop business plan & design strategies to define|attract new supply chain opportunities across multiple sectors and geographies
  • Customize business proposals according to the needs and interests of each opportunity
  • Engage with potential partners to explain the Digi-Key concept and understand how it might align to their business objectives
  • Map the decision-making process of each potential prospect in order to optimize conversions at each stage
  • Continually seek and take advantage of opportunities to network with external partners at external/industry forums
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Research the technology landscape in target markets, and how these landscapes relate to our customer & product priorities, to choose and sequence the best products|solutions for our customers
  • Build and maintain network of external knowledge leaders to continue expanding knowledge of new, upcoming trends and technologies
  • Manage cross-functional teams to identify and creatively implement new business initiatives and solve complex operational, regulatory, and legal issues
  • Supervise and drive decision-making on all partner agreement specifics, launch partners post-deal, and transition those partners to the appropriate teams
  • Understand broader market trends, Digi-Key's customers & be the expert on competition
  • Provide business & process re-engineering services in consultation with executive leaders and senior managers
  • Know & understand area KPIs|OKRs (e.g. GP guidelines, market share, SKU count|new line items, new suppliers, NPI packets, automation); be able to set & meet|exceed individual goals that align to the area KPIs|OKRs (within your scope of responsibility)
  • Subject Matter Expert in all things Supply Chain related at Digi-Key - systems, tools, processes; mentor|coach new Supply Chain staff

Other Typical Tasks:
  • Taking on additional responsibilities from Sales leadership
  • Attend meetings, conferences and/or seminars; gains outside Digi-Key perspective and best practices
  • Lead|participate on cross-functional committees, task forces
  • May champion|lead organizational change initiatives (e.g. process, technology, etc)
  • May participate in the creation of training & documentation of processes as well as the facilitation of training
  • Ability to travel - internationally and|or domestically - minimum of 50%, up to 75% travel

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • Typically, 10+ years of Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Supplier|Product Management or other related roles
  • Well versed in the various functions of Digi-Key, how they work together as well as the industry Digi-Key operates in, as well as the impact & responsibility Digi-Key has to the community it operates in
  • Strong representative of Digi-Key brand and its principles
  • Attained full proficiency in area of discipline
  • Demonstrated strong presentation skills for a variety of audiences including executive management/C-Level
  • Strong contractual and negotiating skills coupled with effective fiscal management skills
  • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with the electronic component distribution industries
  • Proven ability to understand and communicate technical requirements and parameters associated with electronic components
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally within Digi-Key and their partners
  • Previous significant experience in supply chain solutions in a distributor, contract manufacturer, OEM or similar environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business, technical or related field
