Job Summary

The Acupuncturist provides care in a sub-specialty of integrative and alternative medicine. Complete a detailed history from clients including their symptoms, lifestyle, diet and emotions. Based upon history, provider's clinical assessment, and discussion with the patient determines treatment strategy and plan. Implement treatment plan by needle insertion to the appropriate body part for treatment. Evaluate treatment outcomes and recommends new or altered treatments as necessary to further promote, restore, or maintain health. Depending on the severity of the condition and the patient's reaction to treatment, the Acupuncturist administers treatment over varied periods of time, ranging from one month to a year or more.
Ability to incorporate teaching/learning principles and adapt teaching to age groups. Ability to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Openly collaborate and negotiate with team members. Communicate effectively to health care providers, families, and patients and other involved providers. Demonstrate strong customer services skills and be adept with communication to collaborate with patients/families/visitors and with multi-disciplinary teams that contribute to role development and integrative health services. Develop evaluation strategies to demonstrate patient safety, cost effectiveness, cost benefit, and efficiency factors associated with practice. Identify expected outcomes that are achievable through implementation of evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited acupuncture program, which requires at a minimum, a four year full time program and six month clinical internship or that meets state license requirements.
Valid acupuncturist license in the state you are practicing.
