A research specialist position is available in the area of materials science in the Department of Chemistry/Biochemistry at North Dakota State University. This position will fulfill grant requirements focused on the generation of new materials useful in the development of more efficient batteries adaptable to a wide variety of uses.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Physical Sciences
• Strong background in inorganic and organometallic chemistry
• High level of skill in the comprehensive characterization of materials for semiconductors
• Laboratory and training experience with high temperature synthesis equipment, hazardous gases, liquids & solids, X-Ray Powder Diffraction,
• Report writing for private and federal sponsors
• Strong communication skills in English (written and oral)
• Well organized and detail oriented

Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in synthetic organometallic chemistry
• Skills in high temperature synthesis of inorganic materials. Characterization of said materials via x-ray diffraction of microcrystalline powders
• Skills in handling toxic and flammable materials
• Experience in experimental work on semiconductors
• Experience in design and fabrication of thin films and their testing
• Experience interpreting NMR , IR and UV spectra data
