The Compliance Auditor is responsible for evaluating methodologies, testing internal controls, and completing audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry regulations; recommending improvements in internal control structure; and providing input, feedback and training to team members throughout the Bank regarding regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with regulations and controls by examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation; recommends opportunities to strengthen the Bank's internal control structure.
  • Design compliance audit programs, complete audit work papers and memorandums by documenting audit tests and findings, communicate audit progress and findings, and prepare reports according to established procedures. Monitor all corrective actions according to industry standards. Collaborate with VP/Senior Compliance Officer on audit planning, scope, potential findings, remediation plans, and final audit report.
  • Act as liaison/contact for Federal and State examinations and internal and external independent reviews or audits of the compliance programs. Participate in response to exam and audit concerns and oversee corrective action of all related compliance deficiencies or violations.
  • Conduct loan quality and compliance reviews of mortgage loans selected for monthly audits by re-verifying information and checking documentation to ensure compliance with established regulations and investor guidelines.
  • Assist with the coordination and oversight of an effective Quality Control compliance program.
  • Maintain knowledge on all required regulations and design required training programs for compliance procedures.
  • Stay abreast of and analyze developing industry and compliance trends, frauds or schemes, and changes to laws and regulations pertaining to regulatory compliance. Collaborate with other Bank areas of emerging risks, new or amended laws, regulations, or agency guidance, recommend and implement changes and controls to mitigate those risks.

Bachelor's Degree in related field required. Compliance Certifications and experience with automated compliance software or programs preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of prior financial institution compliance experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing programs and procedures preferred.
