Responsibilities:

•Assist students to discover their academic and career interests through course selection and exploration with Liberal Arts and Science Core curriculum and program related courses.

•Work closely with the College Dean and department chairs, faculty and staff members to provide student services and support.

•Participate in campus-wide efforts related to student recruitment, academic success, and retention.

•Utilize the early alert system and promote usage with College faculty.

•Assist students in developing an academic plan to improve their standing when on academic warning, individually reviewed, or probation status.

•Follow up with current non-registered students from the College.

•Serve as the College’s liaison with newly admitted transfer students.

•Participate in Freshmen Registration Days

•Develop resources (College literature, web sites, internship information, and industry contacts) to assist students in exploring existing and emerging fields represented by the College and in learning about the professional qualities graduates need for success in the field.

•Collaborate with Peer Advising program and provide training sessions for Peer Advisors relating to the College.

•Participate in workshops, webinars, and presentations related to advising training and skill development.

•Present workshops and seminars.

•Participate in regular meetings with other Student Relations Coordinators and Academic Support Center staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

•​​Bachelor’s Degree.

•One academic year experience working in college-level academic advising, academic
support, student retention, career development, orientation, related student
services, or admissions. Experience can take the form of practicum, internships or similar work experiences.

•Knowledge of or experience in a specific field related to any of the following: business, management, accounting, finance, communications, journalism, mathematics, economics, political science, law, computer science, business analytics, construction management, operations management, supply chain management, project management.

•Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

​•​Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, higher education leadership, or other related field.

•Knowledge of student development theory and ability to apply theory to specific student populations.

•Demonstrated knowledge of retention programs.

•Knowledge of career trends and emergent fields in programs of study assigned to position.

•Commitment and ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds.

Additional Requirements:

In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCU’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
