Provider Engagement Internship - Summer 2021

Job Summary

The Provider Engagement Intern position is an on-site learning experience for a motivated college student in the principles and methodologies of health care administration and financing through practical working experience in a corporate health insurance environment.  Each intern has an individual work plan outlining specific duties and projects for the duration of the internship as well as overall goals for the internship period. A designated mentor will provide supervision, guidance and support.

 

Essential Functions

• Job responsibilities are outlined in an individual work plan for each intern position; however, assignments will generally include the following types of job duties:
  • Daily participation in the core processes of payment policy development, payment administration and provider network relationship management within the Health Integration Division
  • Introduce the student to current management theory and its application within a corporate setting
  • Promote the student's interaction with the executive, management, professional, technical and staff corporate resources of BCBSND to enrich his/her learning experience
  • Stimulate scholarly activity and independent review/research of contemporary healthcare economic issues pertinent to health care in North Dakota
• Demonstrates professional workplace behaviors, is punctual and presents an appropriate appearance. Respects company policies and demonstrates ethical conduct.

Education Requirements

Required: High School Diploma/GED

Preferred: Associate's

Field(s) of Study: Currently completing post-secondary studies in Healthcare Management or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required; preferably has completed 2 years at the college/university level.

 

Experience Requirements

Required: N/A

Preferred: Minimum of 6 months

Experience Details: No minimum experience is required; intern must have computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office) and must be able to use computer for research activities.

 

Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards
