Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance supervisor

Shift: 6pm-6am Rotating 2 week schedule(2 On, 2 Off, 3On, 2 Off, 2 On, 3 Off) Every other weekend off

Purpose and Scope:

Primary responsibility is to provide the facility and manufacturing departments with proper machine maintenance and repair in order to reduce unscheduled downtime. This position is responsible for new equipment installation and troubleshooting for all equipment within the facility in order to maintain maximum output with appropriate quality. This position is also involved in the Preventative Maintenance (PM) and safety programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain, repair and troubleshoot all processing, packaging, building equipment and systems including but not limited to the below:
    1. Mechanical systems
    2. Pneumatic systems
    3. Boiler systems
    4. Hydraulic systems
    5. Electrical systems
    6. HVAC and Air handling systems
  2. Perform repairs and/or replace defective parts in accordance with all safety and quality requirements and standards.
  3. Coordinate and participate in PM (preventative maintenance) tasks on a daily, weekly, monthly basis as scheduled within the CMMS system.
  4. Accurately assess when to call in additional support from other maintenance team members and management.
  5. Ability to train and be trained on all equipment within the facility
  6. Ability to document any all adjustments and repairs made to the machines during the shift through the CMMS work order system
  7. Promote GMP compliance and help correct GMP issues.
  8. Promote quality awareness and help correct quality issues.
  9. Basic use of hand tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision measuring equipment and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  10. Learn, understand, train to, develop and follow documented policies, procedures, and work procedures and drive others to do so.
  11. Assist in development of work instructions, SOPs, and procedures as necessary within the department
  12. Responsible for complying with all, right to know, lock-out tag-out, and other safety training procedures and policies as set forth by governing bodies or at the plant level.
  13. Maintain good housekeeping and an orderly work area. Support 5S initiatives.
  14. Assist in implementation of productivity improvements.
  15. Interact and function effectively in a high performance team environment.
  16. Parts Fabrication and equipment knowledge and experience preferred on the following equipment:
    1. Mill
    2. Lathe
    3. TIG Welder
    4. Wire weed welder
  17. Support and assist as needed in maintaining and improving the maintenance department.
  18. Initiate and support continuous improvement projects.
  19. Must develop cooperative relationships with ALL other departments.
  20. All other duties as assigned to achieve company goals

Education, qualifications, and Experience:

  1. High school diploma/GED Preferred
  2. Technical degree preferred
  3. 1-2 years related experience in a progressive manufacturing setting preferred. Food or pharmaceutical packaging a plus.
  4. Knowledge of food GMPs a plus.
  5. Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical prints.
  6. Ability to read and understand equipment manuals.
  7. Basic Computer Skills Required
  8. Self-Motivated with the ability to work alone or in teams
  9. Boilers License-2nd class B or above (preferred, not required)
