Position Information


Is directly accountable and responsible to the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Current and Emerging Technologies.

  1. Responsible for administrative functions and office support for the Health Science programs.
  2. Responsible for providing administrative support to the Health Sciences Department Chair and Faculty.
  3. Responsible for assisting faculty with classroom technology and equipment in the delivery of program courses.


Administrative support duties - 50%
  1. Provides administrative and logistical support to the Health Science Department Chair and faculty. Communicates correspondence including letters, reports and other communications and recommendations from faculty and students.
  2. Answers and responds to telephone calls and emails, identifying those of importance which require attention and tracks follow-up.
  3. Assists program directors with the submission and processing of student applications, to include assisting students with questions to ensure timely submission.
  4. Maintains student databases with applicant status bio and student program profile information including immunization records and requirements of the program.
  5. Manages and coordinates program logistics including assisting with advisory board meetings and nursing pinning ceremony.
  6. Facilitates the resolution of pending issues and requests, ensuring that priority matters are brought to the attention of Program Directors and the department chair as appropriate.

Tech support duties - 45%
  1. Provide first contact support when technical issues arise, contacting Instructional Technology if unable to resolve.
  2. Assists faculty and users in operating and troubleshooting equipment including IVN.
  3. Monitors and reports on status and/or concerns of equipment malfunctions and other technical problems in a timely manner to the Instructional Technology Coordinator.
  4. Ensures all equipment is in working order, participates in product specific vendor training, and maintains records of warranties as applicable.

Miscellaneous duties - 5%
  1. Supports innovation, creativity and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and as a whole for the college.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate associate degree with 2 years of office experience or the equivalent of 6 years of office experience.
  • Good telephone etiquette, receptionist skills, and working knowledge of office procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and balance multiple issues, projects and troubleshoot problems in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to expand technical knowledge, ability to investigate and learn new designated technologies and software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to create a positive impression of the division and College.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, neat and able to meet deadlines.
  • Effective problem-solving techniques and exercises sound, independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Proficient in computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, Internet, and electronic calendar) and excellent keyboarding skills.
  • Disciplined and able to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education experience.
  • Working knowledge of Blackboard and Yuja.
  • Experience working with instructional audio and visual equipment.
