Job Responsibilities

The Director, Mission Integration and Senior Pastor will provide leadership and management of the Society's spiritual care program that encompasses employee ministry, education and training, and spiritual development. He/she implements the vision, mission, plan and standards of the organization. The Director contributes to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations and attainment of goals of the organization. This individual will work collaboratively to achieve a corporate culture of continuous quality improvement guided by a mission perspective and principles of the Good Samaritan Society.Also, the Director will provide Society direction and lead employees, residents, and others in need to a closer personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Further, he/she will reflect the prophetic tradition by being a corporate conscience and oversee the archiving of critical historical events for the Society.

-Lead and facilitate the Society's spiritual care programs in alignment with the Society's Strategic Direction.

-Arrange spiritual life retreats and workshops for Society personnel that are inspirational and provide training for positive spiritual leadership in Good Samaritan communities.

-Oversee the devotional enterprise within the Society, including the writing and provision of Society-wide devotions.

-Oversee ordained and lay ministry within the Society; investigate ways and means of strengthening a warm relationship between pastors, congregations, and Good Samaritan centers.

-Insure appropriate resourcing of National Campus devotions, Bible studies and worship services, including routine leadership and/or participation of these activities.

-Participate in workshops as requested by giving Bible studies, leading discussion on subjects such as death and dying, visiting the elderly, self-understanding (TA), and other topics.

-Participate in the part of visioning for the Society's future that impacts the area of mission effectiveness.

-Lead and manage Society church relationships and outreach programs.

-Develop appealing and motivational material to further the support for Society outreach programs, Project Outreach.

-Continue to encourage residents and employees to become involved in mission to others in need in the United States and around the world.

-Provide vision and leadership in exploring new avenues of mission expression, enhancing the Society's ability to share God's love while strengthening the Society's not-for-profit tax status.

-Oversee the National Campus Ethics Committee and provide leadership for the use of ethics within the Society.

Qualifications

-Graduate of an accredited Lutheran theological seminary.

-A Lutheran pastor; regular member of the clergy roster of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America or other recognized Lutheran Church in the USA.

-Substantial parish experience; demonstrated interest in and concern for aging persons; clinical pastoral education recommended.

-The individual must have a "relational gift" and demonstrate a passion for mission, values and philosophy.

-A personal relationship with Jesus Christ; a regular personal devotional life.

-A sincere loyalty to the Church.

-An unshakable faithfulness to The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and its philosophy.

-The individual must have a minimum of five years of management experience managing employees and should be comfortable as a team leader and a team player.
