Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) is responsible for oversight of the company's financial crimes related risk: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), anti-money laundering and terrorist financing, anti-bribery and corruption, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, other global sanctions programs, external fraud, and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.

The Americas Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) Regional Head reports to the Head of the FCRM International Governance Office within Independent Risk Management (IRM) and has a dotted reporting line into the Canada Head of Compliance. This position has overall responsibility and oversight for the design and execution of the FCRM programs across the region, including Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This role will serve as the primary point-of-contact for all financial crimes matters, including coordination with internal and external parties, such as Regulators, Internal Audit, and Compliance Testing and Validation. The Americas Head of FCRM will support the country Money Laundering Reporting Officers to ensure that businesses operating in the region are in compliance with local Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Counter Financing of Terrorism legal and regulatory standards and Wells Fargo corporate policy. The Americas Head of FCRM will work closely with Regional Senior Management, FCRM leadership and business front-line financial crimes programs to ensure effective management of financial crimes risk.

This position must be based in one of the following locations: New York, NY; Charlotte, NC; Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis, MN; Dallas, TX; St. Louis, MO; Phoenix, AZ

Travel will be required 25% of the time.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management
  • 3+ years of management experience



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Financial Crimes Risk Management experience
  • Previous experience managing a team focused on identifying and managing financial crimes risk
  • Strong working knowledge of anti-money laundering and sanctions regulations/guidelines impacting the Americas Region
  • Demonstrated skills leading a team and fostering a strong team environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing and/or providing oversight of financial crimes risk across various lines of business
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills- excellent interpersonal communication skills with an ability to liaise professionally and with diplomacy across all levels of staff
  • Able to execute large complex initiatives in a large corporate environment, while effectively partnering with others
  • Creative and strategic thinking skills, including the ability to analyze complex financial crimes issues and identify key risks/mitigating controls, combined with a pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and complete assignments within established deadlines
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with the line of business and technical team members
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage many competing projects effectively for on-time delivery
  • Self-starter and able to recognize opportunities for improvement and to act on those opportunities
  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or other equivalent anti-money laundering certification
  • Prior experience working for a regulatory agency
