Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $70,000, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.  
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Occasional travel is required.

The EERC is seeking experienced engineers to support a diverse project portfolio spanning a variety of technical sectors including oil and gas production optimization, carbon capture and sequestration, emission control, energy conversion (coal, biomass, gas to electricity, fuels and chemicals), fuel cells and electrochemical processes, and material science (critical materials, rare-earth elements, advanced material development).
 
This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in applied energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. The selected candidate(s) will perform one or more of the following functions:

  • Conduct technical work in support of energy and environmental-related projects.
  • Assist concept development and proposal preparation for new projects.
  • Manage scope and budget for tasks on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and communicate activities in written and oral forms.
  • Evaluate coal conversion and other chemical processes.
  • Suggest, assist with, and prepare proposals to potential clients, manage client tasks and project.
  • May be required to supervise other engineers and students.
  • Report results to clients.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience with energy and environmental systems, manufacturing, or engineering/consulting firm.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Aspen process modeling, process design, process instrumentation and control.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering.
  • Experience with solid oxide fuel cells, fuel conversion, other chemical processes, or energy storage.
  • Experience with commercial-scale energy systems, including coal-fired power plants, petroleum or chemical processing, or alternative energy systems.
  • Experience designing or interpreting field or lab experiments for advanced chemical processes.
  • Experience with technical writing, such as author or coauthor of published peer-reviewed articles or technical papers. Provide examples.
