Job Details

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Completes prep work for products assigned to them
  • Cooks entrée dishes, meats, sauces, gravies, soups, deep-fried foods, and accompaniments according to the computerized production receipts/reports
  • Uses the following equipment: grills, meat slicers, food chopper, steam equipment, fryers, ovens, calculator and scales
  • Reads, follows and comprehends recipes so they are prepared accurately
  • Uses basic math skills to complete production and service reports
  • Produces products to be served to customers including both on and off premise
  • Does display cooking as required or directed and serves food portions on the service line
  • Prepares food to meet all meal deadlines and maintains the highest quality and freshness possible using progressive cooking techniques
  • Batches recipes as needed using the computer
  • Prepares menu items for assigned catered functions
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Follows UND Dining Sanitation and Safety practices as described in the UND Dining Safety and Sanitation Manual
  • Takes accurate temperature audits of all food prepared for service
  • Cleans all work areas routinely and special areas as assigned
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment correctly
  • Completes the NRAEF ServSafe food safety class
  • Work with the preparation and disposal of fish, poultry, beef, lamb, pork and other meat products
  • Adheres to all safety and sanitation policies which includes removal of all jewelry and piercings (plain wedding band is permissible) and wearing hair and beard restraints
  • Responds to customer questions and concerns appropriately and accurately
  • Interacts positively with customers when display cooking and when in service areas

Required Competencies

  • Requires knowledge of food production and working knowledge of large quantity food service
  • Knowledge of the materials, equipment, and food used in the business
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization
  • Has an optimistic attitude, high degree of integrity, and a strong work ethic
  • Self-Motivated
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow recipes and other written instructions
  • Ability use basic math skills to complete production and service reports
  • Ability to stand for 3-4 hours at a time
  • Ability to move 50lbs

  • Treats others with dignity and respect at all times and fosters a sense of camaraderie and goodwill in dealing with others

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Successful completion of Criminal History Records Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food Production experience
  • One year of large volume food service experience including both service or production.
  • ServSafe Certification
  • Experinece with display cooking
  • Valid Driver's License

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$11.29/hour, Full-time, Benefited, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule/Start Date

Normal shift 11am to 7:30pm weekdays; with rotating weekend shifts
