POSITION SUMMARY

We are recruiting an exceptional, board-eligible or certified thoracic surgeon to join our dynamic and growing Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. PRINCIPAL DUTIES

The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking a Thoracic Surgeon to join our dynamic and growing Thoracic Surgery practice. The successful candidate will have an MD or equivalent, have completed an accredited cardiothoracic fellowship, be board certified/eligible in thoracic surgery, and be eligible for a Wisconsin medical license. The incumbent will be expected to play a dynamic role in the expansion of the Thoracic program. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on a clinical practice in general thoracic surgery delivering high-quality patient care, development of a scholarly clinical or basic science research program, and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Expertise in minimally invasive techniques (VATS and/or robotics) and a willingness to participate in our lung transplant and ECMO programs are mandatory. In addition to teaching medical students and general surgery residents, the new department member will instruct fellows in our ACGME-approved traditional cardiothoracic training program. This position is expected to work with colleagues in the Department of Surgery and throughout the Medical School and University to develop productive research relationships, which result in national presentations and publications. The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service. The candidate must have the credentials that meet the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health criteria for promotion or appointment on the CHS track.

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION

MD or evuivalent required.

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE

Graduate of certified residency program in thoracic surgery is required. Training and expertise in lung cancer surgery preferred.

Candidates for associate professor (CHS) or full professor (CHS) rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.
