Job DescriptionThe Manager, International Tax, Canada based in St. Paul, MN will be mainly responsible for supporting Ecolab's Canadian tax reporting, analysis, planning, and audits. The individual in this role will assist with the preparation and review of Canadian federal and provincial tax filings and as required, will support the U.S. federal tax reporting of Ecolab's Canadian subsidiaries. The Canada Tax Manager will maintain current knowledge of Canadian corporate tax laws, and possess the ability to perform tax research, analyze tax and accounting information, analyze and respond to audit assessments, understand income tax accounting concepts and effectively communicate with internal and external professionals. The position requires independent work and thinking.What You Will Do: Assist with the preparation and review of medium to complex Canadian federal and provincial tax returns of Ecolab's Canadian subsidiaries, including data prep for external service provider., and tax payment coordination. Perform FAPI, Exempt Surplus, Thin Cap, tax basis, and other computations. Manage the tax provision calculations and deferred tax analysis for the Canadian subsidiaries. Manage the Canadian federal and provincial tax audits. Responsible for the VAT, GST, HST, Payroll, and Expat tax reporting and audits, including data gathering and question and notice responses. Maintain current knowledge of Canadian corporate and VAT tax laws and the Canadian Foreign Affiliate tax rules. Assist with the U.S. federal income tax reporting of the Canadian subsidiaries. Participate in and advise on Canadian tax strategy, planning and M projects. Support transfer pricing analysis and calculations for intercompany transactions, including data gathering for transfer pricing reports. Communicate and build effective relationships with other finance staff/groups, outside departments, consultants, and tax authorities. Provide planning ideas for all of his/her areas of responsibility. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Minimum 5 years of related experience No immigration sponsorship available for this position Preferred Qualifications: Canadian corporate and VAT tax laws and the Canadian Foreign Affiliate tax rules CPA (US or Canadian equivalent, i.e. Chartered Professional Accountant) Experience with tax research (RIA Checkpoint) software, and familiarity with HFM/SAP is strongly preferred. Experience with OneSource and/or Corptax preferred. Excellent computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite. Solid project management skills; acting as a project lead on small, well-defined projects. Ability to establish priorities of work assignments Strong time management skills. Ability to plan and organize non-routine tasks.
