As a Manufacturing Process Advancement Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Developing subject matter expertise in core chemical manufacturing platforms and process waste water management (reduction & treatment).
Identifying, developing, optimizing, and deploying manufacturing process innovations for product and process-water reduction/treatment by utilizing appropriate engineering methods, applying theoretical and empirical techniques, leveraging experience with existing 3M technologies, and evaluating external solutions.
Providing leadership in developing long-term manufacturing strategies for new and existing water management platforms.
Leading multi-disciplinary, multi-site teams to deliver technology advancements and/or product & process understanding (PPU).
Conducting cost-benefit analysis on various manufacturing operations and develop consensus recommendations based upon sound economic analysis.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Ten (10) years combined manufacturing, laboratory and/or engineering experience
Batch Chemical process or water treatment experience specifying, developing and deploying new manufacturing processes and/or water treatment technologies
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
BS or MS Chemical Engineering degree
Ten years of experience in manufacturing
Experience with process safety management, P&IDs and material energy balances
Experience with technology transfer, process scale-up and/or new product commercialization
Experience with batch chemical manufacturing processes and process water treatment
Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Analysis
Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams from multiple locations and divisions
Strong organizational skills and experience in project management
Responds to new information and inputs with a sense of urgency
Ability to navigate through ambiguity and change.
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic
