POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Systems Design Engineer position will be focused on new product development with an emphasis on refrigeration and air flow systems. You will be working in a very cross-functional focused environment that is collaboratively driven, but you will also work independently and drive the prioritization and multi-tasking of tasks and projects. Primary Responsibilities Will Include:



  • Design and develop new components and overall refrigeration systems which includes food preservation, ice making, energy efficiency, air flow and overall refrigeration performance



  • Engineer new product development refrigeration systems and component designs to meet regulatory standards and performance requirements from project initiation into production

  • Generate and convert ideas into working design solutions while working independently and within cross-functional teams

  • Evaluate design alternatives based on cost, quality and performance

  • Resolve on-going issues as related to agency, assembly, reliability, quality, fabrication and testing

  • Active member of the new product development team with a willingness to work with internal and external customers and suppliers

  • Establish and follow test procedures to validate design concepts

  • Direct and guide lab technicians, designers and drafters while completing tasks to meet project goals

  • Work with suppliers to optimize designs for production and interact with designers to document designs

  • Provide critical dimensions and tolerances to produce engineering drawings

  • Document design changes, providing required information to all departments

  • Review component inspection reports to verify compliance with company standards

  • Provide installation instructions and operation information for field service following applicable company policies

  • Interact with manufacturing, quality, and line personnel to implement new designs into production

  • Communicate design issues with customers through customer service representatives

  • Guide designers and technicians to coordinate their efforts to meet project goals

  • Perform modeling/drafting duties as necessary


requirements and desired qualifications:



  • Four-year engineering degree required, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred

  • Minimum of (3) three years of system product design/development experience (preferably in a consumer products industry)

  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems including experience with heat transfer, thermodynamics and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD)

  • Experience working with fluid simulation software (Ansys Fluent preferred)

  • Experience using CAD software required (Solidworks preferred)

  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication and injection molding

  • Experience with formulating design alternatives to achieve desired industrial design concepts

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Ability to work in environments experiencing routine and rapid change

  • Excellent organization and decision making skills

  • High level of energy and enthusiasm
