Job Summary

Responsible to manage the orientation and professional development process for new, transferring, and existing clinical staff. Coordinates orientation schedules for appropriate population. Coordinates and/or provides skills immersion and lab experiences; provides feedback, coaching, and mentors employees and preceptors; ensures orientation documentation processes are complete and filed; follows up with orientees at regular intervals to evaluate continued progress; and ongoing collaborates with managers and preceptors as to employee's needs and concerns. Expected to continuously develop, monitor, and evaluate all programs related to orientation and professional development for quality improvement opportunities. Coordinates and facilitates community education and event opportunities. Assists with organization of organization sponsored events. Included in this role: development, coordination, assisting and/or teaching of programs or classes related to new clinical staff orientation/professional development, preceptor development, and testing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to ensure all requirements have been met. Expected to build strong alliances with department managers. Must be able to facilitate group process, utilize adult learning principles, use various teaching/learning methodologies and provide role modeling and leadership. Within the education role, individuals may assist with the administrative duties associated with orientation, screening possible candidates, staffing needs, and maintaining employee internal records.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Two years clinical experience required.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications as required by department, including but not limited to, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Neonatal Resuscitation (NPR), etc.. Willing to learn, train and obtain instructor certifications when eligible in designated specialties assigned by department.
